May - the Month Of Mary

Message from Fr. Rob this week

During this month dedicated to Our Heavenly Mother, Mary, Queen of Peace, Fr Rob invites us to renew our personal devotion to Our Lady and to place ourselves again under her care.

May has long been given to Mary, Mother of God. As creation comes into bloom around us, the Church remembers the one who bore Christ into the world and continues always to lead us to Him.

Few realise that England has a special Marian heritage. For centuries, our country has been known as Our Lady’s Dowry — a nation entrusted in a particular way to Mary’s prayers and protection. Across our land, generations before us built shrines, prayed the Rosary, and turned to Our Lady in times of uncertainty and hope.

At the end of our Wednesday Rosary, we continue to pray the traditional Prayer for England:

“O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon England thy Dowry and upon us all who greatly hope and trust in thee.”

These words are not simply history — they are a prayer for today.

In a world where many feel isolated, uncertain, or distant from faith, may we ask Mary to bring us ever closer to Jesus.

Her final words in Scripture remain her invitation to us all:

“Do whatever He tells you.” (John 2:5)

This month, let us pray for our country, our communities, our young people, and all who feel alone.

Our Lady of Walsingham, pray for us.

Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
