Starting soon: THE POWER OF PRAYER
Wednesday evenings 4th October to 15th November 7.45-9.00pm at
St. Joan's Centre, Tilford Road, Farnham. GU9 8DJ . (half term break 25th October).
Six sessions about Christian prayer and the adventure of the spiritual life. For those who are just beginning, and also for those who have been praying a long time!
Pope Francis has announced that 2024 will be a Year of Prayer, so this course could be a great preparation.
"Pray in every moment, in every situation because the Lord is near us. And when a prayer is said according to Jesus’ heart, it obtains miracles." - Pope Francis.
No need to register in advance, just come along when you can.
THE POWER OF PRAYER - PROGRAMME
All sessions start with refreshments and include: Videos with teaching by Fr Stephen Wang and interviews with people about their prayer experiences; as well as short discussion breaks.
4 October: THE POWER OF PRAYER
What is prayer? Does prayer make a difference? How to pray.
11 October: THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
The Christian Creed. The Light of Christ. The Holy Trinity.
18 October: THE BIBLE
What is the Bible? Can we trust the Bible? How the Bible can change your life.
(25 October: Half term break. Ordinary prayer meeting 8-9 pm.)
1 November: THE HOLY EUCHARIST
The meaning of the Mass. The Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
8 November: HOW TO PRAY
The amazing adventure of prayer. Four basic ways of praying.
Prayers and devotions to help you through the day.
15 November: MARY AND THE HOPE OF HEAVEN
Death, judgment, and our longing for eternal life. Holiness, the saints, and our hope for heaven. What Catholics believe about the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Sycamore is a series of informal courses about the Christian faith and its relevance for life today. It gives you space to meet other people, share ideas, explore your beliefs, and think about questions that really matter.
Free of Charge. Everyone is Welcome. Come to as many sessions as you can.
If you can’t make every week, that’s not a problem – each week is a stand-alone session which is helpful in its own way.
